Academic Links

The University of Texas Grantor of my BA, there is no other school quite like it.
The Texas Exes The ex-students' association at The University.
Alpha Phi Omega A national co-ed service fraternity originally founded to be a college extension of the Eagle Scouts.  As an undergraduate, I was an active member for several years.
Southern Methodist University A Methodist-related university in Dallas which I attended for a couple of years at the beginning of my academic career.
The University of Texas at Arlington The second largest university in the UT system, grantor of my MS.

The Libertarians A party I would like more if they had a sense of social and fiscal responsibility.
The Republicans A party I would like more if they weren't quite so controlled by the far right.
The Democrats A party I would like more if they weren't quite so controlled by the far left.
The Reform Party For a brief moment, the best shot for a viable third party.   Now it seems to be the victim of a hostile take-over by buccaneers.  At least they got Buchanan into a fringe party where he belongs.

Online Magazines and News Sources
CNN Interactive The Internet version of CNN.
The Daily Texan The student newspaper at The University.
Jewish World Review JWR is mainly commentary on society and current events.
News of the Weird The stories they don't have time for on the evening news.
Salon An online magazine with some news.  I read it mainly for the cultural commentary and Camille Paglia's occasional columns. They're a penny stock now, if you're into that sort of thing. The Motley Fool says you shouldn't be.

Scottish Links
Rampant Scotland A directory of Scottish websites.
Texas Scottish Festival An annual Scottish festival held in Arlington.  Lots of music, food, and plaid.  Oddly enough, the fellow running the Clan Ramsey tent (my grandmother is a Ramsey) went to high school with me.
The Clan Leslie Society The official site of the Clan Leslie's membership organization.
The Un-Official Clan Leslie Site A site dedicated to the Leslies and run by another J. D. Leslie.  For future reference, spelling doesn't matter.  At least half a dozen spellings are used by the family.

Canadian World Domination At last, the sinister designs of the Evil Empire of the North stand exposed!  No, not the Yankees this time.  The Canucks!
The Lumber Cartel There is no lumber cartel but, if there were, I would be unit #02162.
The Onion I debated putting this in the "News" table, but was afraid someone would think I was serious.
Roadside America Nothing says "American" like "road trip with tourist traps".  Well, maybe "white bread with mayonnaise".  Either way.
The Straight Dope The online version of Cecil Adams's weekly column.  Very interesting for those of us with a fondness for useless facts and information.
